Those are hard bags, right??? If you don't buy them, I'd like to get a shot at them... I looked for a set for quite a while, only finding singles here and there...
From what I read it was the pre 2015 bags, the 2015 and up are supposed to be better.
The bags I'm looking at were made in late 2015. They were taken off a new Indian and replaced with black bags.
See picture below. I made an offer , now it's wait and see. Thanks for the heads up.
Measurements
The length is about 22in.
Width is about 8-1/2in.
Depth is about 12in.
Quote from: greenbarn on January 20, 2016, 22:10:26 PMOne thing to keep in mind is that there have been fading problems with the leather on the new Indians. I don't remember if this was the seats, bags, or both, but I read it a while back on the Indian discussion board. I also talked to an Indian dealer and they are doing "sun" testing with some of the newer models that supposedly have the next gen leather that addresses this problem. So I don't know what version you'd end up with if you ordered just the Indian bags.Just got in on this thread.... Ronny, I have looked at the new tan Indian bags- IMO they are gorgeous and would look great on a drifter. If memory serves me correctly, I believe they are leather-covered hard bags?? Can someone verify that? Anyway, I looked at them last spring, and looked for some last summer - but prices were VERY prohibitive - I found damaged stuff going for as much as I'd want to pay for a brand new set. And the leather would be hard to match for repair...
Greenbarn - Yeah, I really wanted the Bucos to work but I just don't think they would work for my bike.

I think the hockey bag and kitchen sink look you had at Drift In 14 was pretty nice.......

I agree with you the buco bags (although look great) would be hard to paint for your bike. I'm not sure what you'd do there.
I bought a set of leather-covered HD hard bags last fall, and plan to try to get them on my 1500, if I can figure out mounts. I like the looks of them, and they are a lot roomier than my soft bags.
IMO I agree with you - I tend to lean towards looks over function (with a few exceptions) on the Drifters. I prefer the look of leather on them.

Heh heh heh, big mailbox.
Quote from: RockinRonny on January 19, 2016, 10:28:40 AMHe must have a big mailbox too.Wait a minute. You say it was in your mailbox today?
I thought about that. It's not a bad option really, and I could do it myself. Add some studs and I'd be in business.
You could also get the HD tourpack covered in custom-colored leather to match any soft bags you got; like desert tan.
Quote from: bambam0099 on January 19, 2016, 22:37:23 PMThat's what I did. I bought a current model trunk, and then I found an old Shovelhead trunk. I liked the more vintage look of the Shovelhead trunk, so it stayed. I adapted a current wraparound backrest to it for comfort. Now I just need some matching saddlebags and I'll be in business. (It sits level, but the pics make it look angled.) The last one is with my mom.I just bought a cheap, Harley tourpak type trunk to see if I like the looks. If I do, I'll either do some repair work on it or buy one that doesn't need work.
For hard bags I was considering this Corbin hard trunk made for the Indian but again it might be a little too modern? (and expensive) But once in awhile one comes up on ebay for a reasonable price. And it would match their seats. With a solo seat I would move it right up behind the driver over the fender.
Yep, that does look good and the price is right. Too bad I couldn't find one in desert tan. But I was thinking of building a rack for the back and putting on one of these on by itself without the trunk.
