I'm feeling a little slow today- I don't get our post?
Quote from: CDNRatMan on December 28, 2013, 23:22:09 PMeven 49 would not stoop so low as to charge a fellow drifter for lodging at his place .........
Never!! All you would have to do is wash the floor and dishes........depending on how much you ate......
Quote from: John Hopkins on December 26, 2013, 06:41:38 AMI've looked at the members map and it seems that it would need some hard riding to pass the book around the whole of the USA not to mention Canada..Some states have no members and for outsiders like me it is a great suprise to find Texas seems almost empty with only four Drifters..and what's the story with Oklahoma, Nebraska, Wyoming, Dakota, Montana, and Idaho..are these areas where people don't ride motorcycles..
Thousands of miles away it is hard to get a true picture of what is happening in the USA today, I realise the cost of living has shot up, a night in a motel in the sixties was $6, food was cheap and fuel was almost given away. I havent been out of Britain since 9/11 when security was tightened up so much that to get on a plane was to be treated like an animal, searched, not allowed any comfort, having to remove your shoes, subjected to interrogation on arrival anywhere, in fact I think my last flight was in 1977.
Maybe I will have to reconsider and get a new passport, book a flight to the States, buy a motorcycle, ride each State for a few months, take in a few rallies, then sell the bike and fly home again.
In the mean time if some of you want to organise a book relay between a number of States I can send a copy of the book to the organiser.

Hey, Chief! The book is in Franklin TN today, from what I understand! Sounds like a great opportunity for you!
Well, ----OK---- then. You can stay for free...
I am raising funds for Drift in 14

I, in the other hand, am trying to raise funds for a 2-tone paint job...Mr. GB......I'll talk to the head of the GreenBarn family estate and see what she is going to charge me for a nights lodging........see what happens when she learns you are going to charge me........

better head out of Evansville tomorrow. Supposed to be in the 50's but better head south real quick. St. Louis and Oklahoma City will be in the 20's and 30's not to mention possible white rain.
Quote from: CDNRatMan on December 26, 2013, 11:34:51 AMRATMAN: You can stay at my place for $6!! No free gas, thoughLOL....
could you give me the names of the places were I can sleep for $6.00 per night and fuel is being given away for when I do my retirement ride.......lol.....
Quote from: John Hopkins on December 26, 2013, 06:41:38 AMPlenty of motorcycle riding in those states, but a lot of those ares are such wide open country that internet can be tough to come by. Also, the mindset of many out west is not really tech savvy, but more blue collar. I'm sure there's Drifters out there, but those are probably going to be more lone wolf types.I've looked at the members map and it seems that it would need some hard riding to pass the book around the whole of the USA not to mention Canada..Some states have no members and for outsiders like me it is a great suprise to find Texas seems almost empty with only four Drifters..and what's the story with Oklahoma, Nebraska, Wyoming, Dakota, Montana, and Idaho..are these areas where people don't ride motorcycles..
As for your book, it may be locked in for the winter already. Evansville is in the lower left corner of Indiana, and I'm just east of Indianapolis in central Indiana, and Christmas Eve morning it was 7F here with a wind chill of -1F. Few will ride a motorcycle for hours on end in that! I know that on that morning it was very cold all the way down into Tennessee. That was just 2 mornings ago. Winter set in early this year.

Quote from: John Hopkins on December 26, 2013, 06:41:38 AMThat would be quite a trip, John. Probably worthy of another book, I would imagine. It would sure be a whole lot of fun.Maybe I will have to reconsider and get a new passport, book a flight to the States, buy a motorcycle, ride each State for a few months, take in a few rallies, then sell the bike and fly home again.
