was chatting with one of the lads off of DOGUK and there is a 6" longer cable out there and selling on ebay so I am going to order one up, lads over there said they have issues with theirs snapping every so often, mine is a 99 and still the original one on there, so not sure about that. But I'll try to order one that length through the shop here or see what they can tell me in the morning....
Thanks kw for the fuel hose idea again.....
The trick is the length and having the same ends on them.
Quote from: pcarrell on March 24, 2013, 16:50:02 PMThink I heard somewhere a while back that a Nomad speedo cable was a couple inches longer then a 1500 Drifter cable. Maybe one of the other 800 models would work in much the same way? Chopper guys might have a solution too.
PC I wonder if a nomad cable would work on the 800?I'll have to stop by the shop sometime this week to pic up a few things so I'll check with them to see.
Kw that's a great idea using fuel hose to avoid chaffing issues......hope your pics come through.
Ratman: I left the speedo cable on top of the engine guard and have had no issues. I did split a piece of fuel hose as chafing gear.
Chief: I tried twice to post a photo, but got thown off the website...?

They should sell a longer cable for this, correct?
glad that Aidan is so good at working on our rides and he is a smart lad.....lol.......think an extra inch on the cable would be good too....
Sorry my man
....If it's any help to your decision Aidan likes the speedo cable above the bar rather then through or under.I'll agree with that decision and plan on running my cabla above the bar
oh thanks here I was thinking that Aidan had it instaled and ready to go......man now I have to think this out.....
Ratman to be quit honest with you I never even gave that a thought. My bar is still uninstalled at this time.. reason being with the bar on it will never fit out my basement doorway(man cave)I bring the bike in there because its much easier to work on,space wise.I'll be moving it to the garage once the snow is finally gone then I'll install the bar. Please let me know how you cured this issue.
D1, kw-retrorider, mmedur, and anyone else who has installed a set of front engine guards were did you run your speedo cable over the top or under the bar? I find it seems to be really tight if you go under the bar and trun the wheel far left, the natural way it will fall at park. Going to check if there is a slightly longer cable out there. Thanks....
