My wife is "vertically challenged" in the leg department.  She is somewhat on the shorter side and doesn't have long legs to reach the ground comfortably on some larger size cycles (i.e. Drifter 800 / 750 honda / etc.).

When cycle owners "lower" their bikes exactly what are they doing ?  Where would I start on a 1999 Drifter 800 that I just purchased with her in mind.  I'm already looking at solo seats but would like to hear what is involved with lowering a stock Drifter.  I've heard 3" is attainable but at what cost to clearance, etc. :-\

Thanks
