Couldn't help but chuckle at the cars waving at each other comment... My wife bought a Jeep... There's an unwritten Jeep owner code that they wave to you when they pass, It's generally hands still on the wheel two fingers (left hand) up and a nod, Two things about this make me laugh...
1. They only wave to "Real Jeeps" not the Liberty's, Cherokee's, Four doors, Wagoneer's... Just the CJ's and Wrangler's.
2. My wife has got me to go along with this and I wave to all of them (Always funny to see the reaction of the ones who don't usually get the wave) just as I do to other bikes regardless of make and model (Yes even the scooters) Sometimes I'm in the Jeep and find myself almost waving to a Bike... Or on the Bike and almost waving to a Jeep.
Around here mostHarley riders are OK with whatever bikes, they figure the more other metrics are around the better their bikes look. In their mind. Its all good. But there are one or two areas I shouldn't or wouldn't go. One local biker club Lost Tribe owns a bar in town called the Hard tail. Bad things happen to people there on ocassion. Tourists Harleys dissapear from time to time. End up in pieces most likely. But they do toys for tots runs around Xmas. LOL We have Avengers chapters around, Booze Fighters but they are low key these days. I'm not aware of any others. Well, IBA but they don't cause any problems. Now in days you see lots of guys with back patches of home spun clubs. I'm up and wanting to put on the leathers and head out for a sunrise ride. Its 34° there won't be any gangs out the early...lol
so I should be safe. Wish I had the money for heated gear.
;)ok so he is in Calgary, so when and if I go to Airdrie to visit some really good firends I'll call him then ...lol...
perhaps that is why they don't wave, can not ride one handed......
And I'm sure he would enjoy tipping one or three with you, too; problem is, he got transferred to Guelph, then about 6 months later, transferred to Calgary. In the midst of all that, he was out for a bicycle ride and got clipped by a car (hit and run no less) {see, physical exercise IS hazardous to your health!} and since, can no longer ride his bike, and has had to go to a cruiser style( much to his dismay) As to sport bike riders not waving, it's no wonder: they are probably afraid to let go long enough to wave!

Ok Wasaga Beach is full of people from Toronto so they are big city snobs anyway, but I do notice the Harley riders can be snobbish. But I have noticed crotch rocket riders not waving more so.
Next time I am over that way I'll give you a shout and you can give me his name and I'll drop in and say hi from his favorite uncle....lol and have a beer with him for you, of course on your tab.....
My nephew lived in Wasaga Beach in Ontario Canada; he rides a sport cruiser of some sort; he said around there if you waved at other bikes, the Harley riders would flip the bird at those riding bullets and sport cruisers; real men, those.

I live in a big biker area, Chillicothe, OH has Easy Rider rodeo every year 1 of 3 nationwide. We get 10-20 thousand bikes from all around.. Granted 100 isn't the norm. But tomorrow it is suppose to be nice. I will easily see 100 bikes. Leaf lookers in 4 wheel fashion will be out in force. Being 40 minutes south of the state capitol, the city people come down and stay in cabins to get that back country experience. They also like to drive 35 on 55mph hi ways and even stop to take pictures parked in the road. Its common to see groups of bikes go through of 20 bikes. I love where I live but I ride here every day. I usually just lift the left or nod. I was riding the other day and laughed thinking about a being in the car and waving at every car that goes by. I have a strange sense of humor.
100 during a day ride....WOW......perhaps 1 to 10 during a day ride if we are lucky, but low fives and or a nod if I have time and the hands free at the time, but then notice others don't respond in kind either. So not a big deal either way to me.
I get being neighborly. Waving back at passing bikers. When you live in an area where weekend bikers come to cruse, around a State forrest. I may get 100 people waving at me when we go out for the day. Sometimes I just don't. Can you imagine if every car going down the road waved at the other car going by..LOL its just sort of funny to me sometimes.
