  Hey Chris
I just got my drifter and it had 24188kms on it and with the original sprockets and chain, I took it for a drive yesterday and I am not sure of the noise you are hearing, and my chain is at the last legs, just waiting for the stuff to arrive sogood luck hope you can find the problem

Imho, you should change your sprockets when you replace the chain; less chance of premature wear. Wouldn't hurt to check your wheel bearings while you're at it. The noise might just be chain noise due to a worn chain; possibly misalignment, :-\ been a lot of  years since I have run chain final on a bike. Good luck with it and post when you find the problem; all info is useful.

Regards and such,

I got my Drifter in March and have put about 4000 miles on it.  I've tightened the chain three times, but now it seems to be making a "chuffing" noise when I accelerate, especially up hills.  It stops when I get to speed on the level.  I measured the chain as the manual directs and it's right at the 323 mm mark, so I'm going to replace the chain.  My question is, is this noise chain related or something else, like a bearing?  Thanks

PS  Put my Drifter in the local car show last weekend and got lots of pictures and comments--nothing else like it in my town.
