If the FI light is working and there are no fault codes being generated (assuming the test was done properly) I would question the "bad" ECU diagnosis.
Personally, I'd find out how much it would cost to have the dealer check the ECU and compare that to the cost of a new ECU. I'd hate to spend the time and money on replacing the ECU just to end up with the same problem. A new ECU is between $700 and $800, and its rare to find a used one...
Correct me if I am wrong: All of this is because you are getting popping and backfires on decel... you have aftermarket pipes, aftermarket air box and a PCIII...we couldn't get any fault codes to show up
Did you run the ECU fault tests?
http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/ECUFaultCodes.htmlWell after many of hours of testing, tracing wires etc, last nite with a couple of mechanic friends in my riding group we have determined my problem is a faulty ECU, Now my issue is, the kwai dealer says that if I order it would be on back order till july 26 2012
1.Now does anyone know where I may purchase a new one
2. if buying a used one I believe there is no way of testing these units until installation which means risky business
sooooooo if you have a used one and you are sure about it reliablity please let me know as the summer is here and I want to ride my Drifter
Thanks
