My bike came with Vance & Hines on it.  You don't need to do anything to the fueling side if you don't want to as the factory setup is so restrictive the Longshots actually just make the stock settings work better.  Of course, if you want a little more kick in the pants...........

As I didn't do the conversion, I can't tell you anything about the removal of the cat.  Maybe someone else can help there.

One thing I noticed when I first got the bike was it seemed to have a lot of small popping through the exhaust between shifts and on deceleration.  I followed [url=http://www.gadgetjq.com/smogstuffremove.htm]these instructions[/url] and marbled my engine.  It only took a few minutes and the popping went away instantly and has never returned.  I put a hose clamp tightly on either side of the marble for insurance.  I painted the hose clamps black and they're all but invisible now.

One more thing, V&H pipes sit higher up the side of the bike then some other pipes.  That means I'm more limited on the depth of the saddlebags I can use.  I can only have saddlebags about 12 inches deep.  I think Roadhouse and some of the other brands have pipes that sit lower, and therefore you aren't as limited on saddlebag selection.

Im getting ready to swap out the stock exhaust on my 1999 1500 for a set of Vance and Hines Longshots, rejetting the carb and upgrading to a high flow filter. Has anyone else changed to an aftermarket straight pipe style exhaust, my bike has a catalytic converter, should I anticipate any problems with its removal?
