The easiest and surest way to find out is to use Partzilla's parts list for your year, get the part number for the tank, then you will get a list of other bikes that use the same tank.

For the 800 Drifter parts, such as the front fender, that are mechanically the same but are painted different colours for different years, have the same part number, but with a letter code for the colour. I assume it is the same for the 1500.

I am a new member and thanks for the add.  I am looking for a replacement fuel tank for my 1999 drifter 1500, I see some on Ebay.  Does anyone know what years will interchange?  I am seeing some that have an oval hole in addition to a round hole with a square flange and some only have one hole.  It also looks like there are some mounting differences between the years.  Thanks
