we might be riding home together.....
I have piece of mind now for the long run to Drift In 15
good for you, if it ain't broke don't mess with it......
Another data point on valve clearance....just checked or I should say finally checked the valve clearance on my 800 with 22K miles on it. No adjustment/shims needed.
As someone at Drift-in said to me: "These things are spiritual man....don't put a wrench to them."
Ok, I lucked in because mine were still bang on so next winter check again. All clear now.
Valve check and a few shims change. Good for another 15k!
not me I don't need that I like the down time really.....
He's finally figured out how to ride year round!
ok so you did just an adjustment, correct, or did you have to actually re do the valves, or did you just do a valve check? When I read the book it seemed like a lot of work for a simple check. But once the tank is off it is really not that much work, it is actually pretty simple, imagine once you have to change a shim or 2 then it will get interesting.
It seem like a big job to adjust those valves
!!! There is still snow in the backyards, temperature are still just above freezing, and forecast says 4" of snow for the weekend.....but the road is clear and dry!!!!!
I'll say an adjustment but one never knows......
Quote from: Nanook on April 01, 2015, 17:11:15 PMWhat are you up to this time? I'm in it as well, racing with winter to see who finishes first! I rode my bike on the working table a week ago and project are getting done quickly, new shock, new fork spring and oil, valve job, new pipe, new battery, new horn, new dye on seat and saddlebag, possibly new air intake as well! But would like to do a small ride this weekend! So I put myself under pressure!
Valve job?
? certainly you mean a valve adjustment
So Montreal is clear of snow? Well yes you live south of here, we have snow in the yards still up to my butt. But it is melting nicely.
Are you and the boss going to make Biker Reunion this summer? Sounds like you got a lot done on your ride, so enjoy it.....
This is the last project for the year and will be done and the bike buttoned up for spring thaw.........
