Fibreglass Exhaust packing recommendations needed

Any ideas why ONLY the left padding was melted out ?

I pulled the baffles on my V&H Nomad duels that I fitted to my Drifter. I replaced the fibreglass that wrapped the V&H original baffles. The left side fibreglass has now melted (after 5K) where the open holes are in the baffle. The right is still thick ? Curious. This fibreglass was listed as exhaust packing, and came from China. Can anyone recommend a better international product or what specifications to look for when buying more packing ?
