Well, I've got a 800 Drifter, but I think there aren't big differences in this case.
Each light is kept in by the rubber o-ring that you can see layin' around the plastic cover: it's in solidarity with the remaining part of each light housing that is under the dash plaque.
All you have to do is:
1- unscrew the 3 screws that hold in place the dash plaque (don't throw them away, because you'll reuse them for the new plaque);
2- gently widen said o-ring and simultaneously lift up the plastic cover, until it will pop up;
3- remove the light housing from the underside.
Obviously, you'll have to go through the above steps in reverse, in order to put on the new plaque.
Hope this helps.

I love my swingin' bike!

What is the proper way to remove the three light housings to install in a new dash plaque on the 1500.

The dash lights are for high beam , turn signal and neutral.

I don't want to break them but since there twenty years old.

Bought a new Dash plaque

Thanks
Here the old dash plaque and new one pics
