Fresh rules coming for bikers

It's been on the radar for months, now the Campbell Government is going ahead with new rules for motorcyclists and their passengers.

The Government says the changes are in response to a growing number of motorcyclists in BC and a corresponding rise in the number of fatalities.

By this fall all drivers and their passengers will have to wear a helmet that meets certified industry safety-standards and Solicitor-General Mike de Jong says that means the likely end of those small "skull caps", "Well, I don't think they're likely to be approved, I'm not aware of one that has any kind of sanctions, CSA safety sanctions."

As well, new drivers face limits on the size of bike they can operate and all passengers must be able to put their feet on foot pegs.
