CARPE DIEM DRIFTER

Hello docerz,
My 2006 Drifter 800 has the chrome trim around the edges of  both fenders and the gas tank. This is an aftermarket product that was applied to customize my scoot. The chrome trim ( u-shaped with sticky on the inside of the u) comes in rolls usually in the 10 to 20 foot lengths. It is available from lots of different sources. I know that is available on e-bay. Also comes in gold trim.
I would definitely apply new trim after your paint job. The trim is not that expensive so why take a chance on taking away from a beautiful new paint job. Here are a couple of installation tips that I learned in the process of doing my scoot.

Wait at least 30 days after fresh paint to apply trim. ( paint cures from the outside in)

Pre measure with a soft seamstress tape prior to beginning installation. ( add a few extra inches and cut to length. You won't have the whole roll flopping around during installation)

A hair dryer or heat gun will make going around sharp bends much easier. ( low to medium heat setting)

Start applying trim in a location that will be least visible. ( seam where the two ends meet )

Best of luck in your endeavor,  CDD

Hello I was just wondering if anyone know about the 2003 Drifter 800 fender trim. It looks like red body with chrome trim. Is thsi trim removable during a repaint or are they sticky's whcih need to be bought new for a repaint. If so where can I get a set of them new to repaint a bike. I am looking at a 2003 800 right now. Thanks
