Well I am back, got in Tuesday around 4:30.
We went to Weirs beach on Sunday only, turns out it was the busiest day according tot he vendors we spoke too, ended up at the full throttle saloon and made some new friends from Boston and Providence.
We spent the most of our time in the White Mts, rode the kangamagus, went to Mt Washington, Wildcat Mt, Franconia Notch and the cannon MT tram and flume gorge, etc..
The weather we perfect for the most part, the days they called for afternoon showers we started out early to be sure we were done by the time it would rain, we never got caught in the rain or had to change any plans.
On Sunday it rained at Wiers beach for about 15 minutes and then the sun came back out and it was really nice the rest of the night.
I only saw two other drifters and they were both on the road, neither were at Weirs beach.
I saw someone in Meridith ride by on a red Drifter and I also saw a black one on rte 3 coming back from Wiers beach.

I left Laconia and went to Hampton beach for a few more days, when I Got there we met a guy with a stock 99 I took some pics, we traded bikes for a while so I could take my wife on a ride up the coast to Rye, the guy was great, we had a lot of fun.
Then a day later in York Maine we found a yellow 99 on the side of the road at a place we stopped for a break to look at the shorline.
Other than that no other drifters I saw.

I did stop at the travelling Indian museum in Meridith and checked out the real mcoys and then at Weirs we went to the Indian trailer and looked at the new models, man those are sweet bikes.
I took a ton of pics, over 600 so I will be updating my gallery over the next few days so you can all see for yourselves if you weren't able to go.
Had a great time, tons of great rides, great weather and friends.

Next year we are staying at my brothers beach house in Moltenboro, (spelling?) just across the lake from Laconia, it is a huge beach house with a yard on the water and we can have it for the whole week for free so we are definitely going back, by then my wife will have her new bike too so we can both ride.

I will let you know when I post the pics, maybe the Yellow drifter is a members?

Lump,
Looked all over Wier Beach parking lot today for a Lime Drifter but to no avail!  Going back tomorrow to tour the vendor stands across the st.  Hope your new ride is doing well and you're enjoying the festival.

lol, I had a 65 panhead the last year they made them at the dealership a few weeks ago, you should see the amount of oil that ended up under that bike daily, had a 48 shovelhead too I think, I might have that wrong, we had three old bikes and without looking at them I forget which was which.

Anyway I was worried about gas mileage and any possible problems that might have come from the leak regarding the bikes computer and the mix and performance in general.

When I went through all the fluids yesterday, I found all to be good except the final drive, it had a third of what it should have had and it was dark black and thick.
I changed that and hadn't taken the bike out until tonight and after fixing the exhaust the bike sounds and runs great, it might just be in my head and the relief of having fixed everything before I leave tomorrow but it seems to be running especially good

Glad you were able to get it out. Of course, you could have run it with 1 bolt and a leak, people would have thought it was a shovelhead... :-\

Ok, great I will look for you too.

Got the stud out, whew!
That wasn't pleasant.
I used a dremel and  friend and we cut a groove into it and I bought a big screwdriver at H. depot and eventually we got it out with a 12" crescent wrench on the screwdriver and some steady pressure.
I Am so glad I was able to fix it in the 11th hour, we are planning on leaving around 10 am tomorrow so this was my last chance before our trip to try to get it.

Hope to see some of you folks on the Road we will be all over the state and into Maine too.

I plan to be in Laconia at least a couple of times this week. My Drifter and I will be all over the state and will keep an eye out.

I have left hand drills just for this task. Most of the time, the stud spins out while you are drilling....

lumper,
I may be up mid week and will look for Lime!
Re your broken stud, if there's room, take the Dremel tool and grind the face as flat as you can.  Then, grind a drill bit so that it's cutting edge is backwards; so that it cuts material when the drill is in reverse.
Heat up the stud a bit with a torch.
Apply some silicone or other penetrating lube.
Using a ball-peen or other hammer, bang a center point hole in the stud; this will help the lube penetrate too, hopefully, and hold your bit in the center as you start.
Set your drill on reverse and have at it.
I've seen machinists use this method.  You'll be drilling and (using a bit that's smaller than the thread diameter to preserve the threads in case you go below the surface in trying to drill it out) it will hopefully spin out during the process.
Clean out the threads and Bob's your Uncle.

Troll,
No, I tried both the metric and english extractor kits, none would grab the stud enough to get anywhere near a turn.
There is I guess 3/8" sticking out and I think a 7mm would grab it.

The 6mm is to small and the 8mm a hair to big, there wasnt a 7mm extractor in the kit so for now I dont know what to do.
A friend wants to use a dremel and cut a groove for a screw driver and try using a chord less drill, but I dont know.

I have been driving it like this here and there since I haven't been able to fix it.

Varoom,
I didn't see any Drifters the last time IJ was there, I hope to find some though.
Depending on the weather I plan on being at Weirs beach on Weds and Sunday otherwise weather permitting we are going to be in the north playing around.
If you happen to be around on those days look for my Mint green 99 Drifter, no Chrome.

You will see Drifters in Laconia and Weirs Beach and all over.  I'd be up there now if it weren't raining for the next four days.  Hopefully it'll abate and I can run up on my new 2005 two tone black/grey 1500.

Just wondering if any of my fellow Drifter riders are going to be around Laconia during bike week.
I haven't ever seen another Drifter on the road and thought it would be cool to meet some northeast Drifter riders if you are planning on going.
My wife and I are going to be a few miles north of Laconia in Campton, NH from Weds thru Sunday.
We plan to ride to some white Mt events and check out the drive in for vender deals and cool bikes on one or two of those days
If anyone wants to meet up somewhere  speak up.
