I don't have an 800 but typically, chain drive bikes have left and right index markings on the swing arm near the rear axel to ensure the axel adjustment is the same on both sides of the swing arm (which should ensure the alignment of the front and rear sprockets, in addition to ensuring the rear wheel is in alignment, or parallel to, the centreline of the bike).  Not unheard of for those index marks to not be 100% accurate but that would be very atypical.

I defiant did see those and not inly
matched those up but then measured them because of n this forum I saw where they're not always true and you should measure just for good measure. Side note it made me realize my rear rotor wasn't warped albeit worn and the last person to adjust it was off by just the tiniest bit. Gotta take some wins when you can lol

Have you checked the front/rear sprocket alignment?

So here's what I have; 2001 drifter 800, previous owner installed JT 17/42 sprockets and Regina chain. It has been making a zzzzzzz sound and gotten worse, at first I thought it may have been the front bearing but it got louder and was able to isolate it to the chain and sprocket. Yes I have been cleaning and lubing the chain. But for this season (I got it last year and didn't do much riding) i took it out and got much worse, and decided to to do a deep clean and line of the chain and sprockets. Didn't fix it, tightened it up just a tad and it made it a ton worse, so loosened it and did nothing so put it back to spec slack. Not sure if it's the sprocket the chain etc. so should I just replace the chain and sprockets and should I keep the 17/42 or put it back to the stock 17/40?
