By the way Chief,
My Tires are Metzler's and they say "tubeless" so I am assuming I dont have a tube in there, I can feel the air coming out of the bend in the rim.
After I get the wheel and tire off hopefully I will find it can be fixed, it isnt a huge bend.

Ok Chief thank you.
I am going to buy a jack first, get the wheel to a tire shop or local bike shop and see what exactly I need and maybe the rim isn't to bad to be straightened.
If not then at least I will know and I can buy a used wheel for now.
Thanks again for the link and the info.

Sorry, thats for the FRONT tire...

Rear is a bit more complicated...

here's some info

Yeah, you will definitely need a jack.  Make sure not to lay the wheel down flat with the brake rotor on the bottom.. it can warp your rotor.

I'd get the wheel balanced after the repair as well. You will likely need to do that anyway since you are most likely going to need to replace at least a tube.

Were talking about the back tire right?
Same thing?
SO I need a jack at the vary least?
Thanks again,

There's really not much to it. Ensure the rear wheel stays grounded and the bike is secure.  Raise the front end. Remove the brake caliper, leave it attached to the hose. Loosen the axle nut and clamp bolt, (make sure bike's rear wheel is firmly on the ground and secure) - remove the axle nut, pull the axle to the right and drop the wheel out of the fork... may have to tilt it a bit to get it out.

Obviously, you want the bike nice and secure...

I have had 13 bikes, never taken a tire off, never had to.
I am assuming I can handle this though?
I dont have a bike stand or a jack or anything, can you give me some tips or advice to save me from learning on the driveway?
I am looking at used wheels and thinking it might just be easier to buy a new wheel and paint it black and then swap them, but still I have to think about what I need to safely remove the wheel to get it to a tire shop.
Thanks Chief

I'd replace it... but you can take it to a body shop or tire shop and see if they can repair it.

But you know we have tubes in these tires. I suspect you have at least a busted tube... you will know when you take the tire off.

Hi all,
You guys are getting to know me a little by now, lol.
Check this out, I have been having a run of dumb luck, bad luck, dumb nonetheless.

So yesterday when I finally got the bike started after a weekend of diagnostics, I celebrated with a little ride, nothing to serious literally a little ride, 50 miles or so.

I go out this morning to pull the bike out, and I find a flat tire.

After closer examination I see a nasty bend in the rim near the valve stem .

I just filled the tire and an hour later is was flat again.

I dont think I have a puncture or anything, I believe the air leaked out from this bend in the rim.

Do I need to buy a new rim or is there anyway to safely straighten this one?

I was hoping I could pull off the rear fender and use a mallet and some rags or a block or something and bang it straight but I thought I better get some opinions on this before I go destroying my rim any worse.
After reading I see I need to pull the tire off the rim and there are methods but I dont think it is something I am going to be able to do.

What do you guys think?

I have been looking at used wheels on eBay and find for 150.00 to 250 for most.
Will a wheel from a 2002 vulcan 1500 classic that is spoked like mine fit?
Are there different years and models that will fit?
The more I read the less I think I can fix it.

it's something new and exciting every day with ole Lumper, started with the discovery of a valve cover gasket leak and now I am on a roll.

Thanks for any opinions and info,
Lump
