Tks, Bucko. Mine are, indeed, manky. (A new term for me, but I love it.   :) )

I've been looking on ebay and there are some there. I just need to learn what fits. I have all winter to learn that. I'm also considering replacing the wheels with alloy, as set out in one of the mod posts here.

....1500. OEM in Canada are about $900 for the parts, then labour of a few hundred.

All shipping issues aside (an issue if you're looking to ship from US -> Canada), you could buy a nice complete set of OEM Vulcan wire wheels on eBay for way, way less than that, then sell your original wheels to someone who wants a set to paint (assuming yours are manky and that's why you want to rebuild them).

I would like to replace all the spokes and nipples on my recent-to-me 1500. OEM in Canada are about $900 for the parts, then labour of a few hundred.

Does anyone know of a source of good aftermarket?

tks.
