Hey Tank, thats the article I was talking about. What about part numbers? did VH send it to you in a blank box? Were the people at VH that easy to deal with? I really want to do this mod with as little pain as possible. thanks for the link to the post :)

pcarrell

i called directly to VH and they set me up with the parts. cost was just over $200 for the pipe and both shields.

Boomer

I have dual roadhouse and they are great and did not have to re-map. Also added a few HP. It also sounds great nice and deep.

Lots of luck..Boomer

Didn't I read a post were someone put a bagger cross-over on the longshots? (1500) I've been trying to find out the part number for that pipe but no luck yet.

Anybody know about this upgrade? at least I think it would be an upgrade. The longshots are not equal length as is. I don't know if I've noticed any performance problems but haven't checked the plugs yet. I also think it would sound a little different :)

pcarrell

Mine does seem to run a touch rich, judging from the inside color of the exhaust pipe.  Runs good though, so if it ain't broke...............

chief

I know, most people don't have to deal with the module, but different pipes impact the efi differently. There was a mag article where they tested pipes and found a very large range - lean to rich - simply due to the brand/style of pipe.

Mine are Bubs Big Willys... not many folks have those. I removed all that stuff and plated off the reed valves, no marbles.

On a rare occasion I hear from someone with a similar problem. The module fixes the problem without much screwing around. My Cobra 2000 worked out of the box.

Cheers.

Interesting Chief.......On my 1500 the EFI is stock with my Vance & Hines Longshots, but I did have to marble the reed valve to get rid of the popping.

chief

Actually, the 1500 is fuel injected and for MOST 1500's the EFI will compensate for the pipe change. But all pipes are not created equal in that regard. I had to add a FI module (like TFI, PCIII, Cobra) to mine due to the excessive decel backfire/popping.

On the 800, you will likely have to rejet, I believe. But again, it will be pipe based. You can try without then rejet if needed.

Cheers.

hi there bjhime what will u do with your standard exhaust are you willing to sell ur silencer  is the end cap the same as the 1500

pcarrell

Don't know about the 800, but the 1500 is so restricted by the stock exhaust that when you open it up with better exhaust you don't need to rejet.  It kind of balances it out.

bjhime

They seem to be.  I'm guessing it'll have to be rejetted, too?  bjw

pcarrell

I've noticed that the Roadhouse pipes seem to be a bit more popular with the 800 crowd.

bjhime

I'm thinking of switching out my exhaust on my 06, 800.  Both Hard Krome and Roadhouse offer pipes that will fit the 800.  Any suggestions from anybody?  bjw
