Good to hear.  If the clutch side was plugged, there's a good chance the brake(s) side may be too.  A plugged port on the brake M/C will cause the brake to lock up.

just to update a friend of a friend was able to unplug my master cylinder port using a bread tie haha. he slowly and carefully scraped away at some crud. and at one point when he hit the magic spot with the small wire tie a stream of fluid shot out and sprayed his face. we both laughed our a$$es off and I am hoping now the bike won't act up. It was definitely plugged tho.  thanks again and hoping for the best

Also Bucko I forgot to mention he said the inside of the master cylinder was a mess. Asked if I kept it outside in the rain and weather( which I do not) because it looked like water and rust had gotten in there.   I said maybe the previous owner did but he said he cleaned it all out.

Hi Bucko and thanks a million for the fast response...Im going to screen shot this so I can relay the info to the mechanic. or maybe find a new mechanic. if that will fix the issue that would be great. Also sorry for my lack or knowledge in describing the clutch issue...as I stated I am far from a gear head sadly haha

On a hydraulic clutch, releasing the lever and the clutch doesn't engage is a symptom of a plugged equalizing port in the master cylinder.  The fact that the clutch works for a while then doesn't is also consistent with the plugged port (each time you use the clutch pressure builds in the circuit which can't release properly as the equalizing port is plugged until there's so much pressure the clutch won't work at all.  Not uncommon, especially if the system has not been serviced regularly.  The fact that you said the Master Cylinder was replaced is a bit odd, unless the replacement was a used one and it too had a plugged equalizing port - again, not that weird for a used one to be plugged.  The good news is it's about a two minute fix, although, if it is plugged, the system really should be flushed after the blockage is cleared.

I just joined this forum and self admittedly am not to computer or mechanically implied but love driving. plus I keep mechanics in business I guess . So if this is a dupe subject or in the wrong place I apologize. I have a 99 Drifter 1500.. Got it 4 years ago. Didn't drive a lot but got it painted 3 years ago and when I got it back I went on a nice drive with a buddy. The clutch went out. I Would let out the handle. wouldn't engage or move. So I had it towed home and it sat in my garage with a beautiful new paint job until March of this year. Found a bike shop a mile away. They came and grabbed it in march and I just got it back two weeks ago. He put in a whole new clutch and master cylinder. So I went and got a sticker and putted around. Called my same buddy from 3 years ago and we decide to recreate our drive. a half hour in I noticed the same thing happening. I let out the clutch and gave it gas and the engine had no "bite" or zip to it. Kind of revved and slowly engaged but not tight or with any zest. ( describing the best I can) I wasn't to happy. it kinda of started working again on the rest of the ride. but still didn't feel right or snappy. I got it home. Called the shop the next day. Told the guy and he said to get 3-400 miles on it and let him know what happens. I have 150 miles on the rebuild so far .So I am at a loss here. if I got a brand new clutch and it slips a little when the bike heats up anyone know what gives? Im really frustrated and hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction. appreciate any replies or knowledge. I live south of Boston about 10 miles just for the record.
