Are these the original engine guards

if you remove all the washers and mount the engine guard on the outside of each of the floorboards, it should tighten down will little trouble.  Looks like the washers were used as spaces just to extend the floorboards.

I will be putting spacers from the frame to the engine guards and eliminate the washers that extend the floor boards.

You can make some spacers from 1/2" black iron pipe or pipe nipples (cut off threads).

Not good..if I was going to keep that set up I would have some spacers machined, get some grade 8 bolts, and paint the spacers black.

That is really mounted totally incorrectly

With all those washers, the floor boards must drag quite a bit in the corners - I drag mine (with no spacers/washers)

PS: Love that colour of red - seems pretty close the the 800 red.

It looks like you have a bunch of washers acting like spacers between the mounting points and the frame.  Same with the floorboards (seemed to be moved outward a bit)  if that's the case, then you might actually have a Nomad engine guard...they are wider at the mounting points (to fit a wider frame).  At least that has been my experience when determining the chaps for my Lindby multibar....the Nomad crash bars are wider than the Vulcan 1500 classic and Drifter...but I could be wrong (known to happen from time to time...:-)  )
