There's definitely a rev limiter on my 1500 - I've hit it many times  ;D

The 1500 (and I assume the 800) has a build in rev limiter which I thought was set for just over 6k (1500).  However the service manual lists the 'Usable engine speed' (re: ECU) as: 100~5950 rpm.  Max HP (63) (which would normally be the redline - no?) - is listed as 4700 rpm.

4700 rpm would be the torque peak/hp intersection on a dyno graph. I do not believe there is a rev limiter on either system.

Sounds like both of you are right. Chief, I would think your prognosis is in the ball park and "W" I have an EJK fuel controller which is a later version of (Dobeck) what you have and the thing to do is to start with the opening values on their website and go up from there. I had to increase the settings from baseline/suggested and up them. Not by a whole lot, but it required testing. Actually the motor runs quite well, and gets about 38(+/-) miles to the road. I would say if you are revving out the motor to max (who needs to?) give it more gas. Especially if you have modified the airbox(s). If not and the bike is stock, I would leave the Techlusion at factory specified settings and go from there.

I believe it is 5900 on the 1500 (and 7000 on the 800).

'02 Vulcan Drifter 1500

Hello All. Love this place. Thank you for this great place. Okay, enough gushing. I became a member last month after I purchased a 1999 1500 Drifter with 7,000 miles. Love the this machine! My question is; what is the max rpm the 1999 1500? The bike came with a Techlusions TFI installed and everything is running well, but I want to be sure the fourth pot is set correctly. I found the manufacturer,s suggested settings and set the pots accordingly. The manufacturers setting for the fourth, who's job is to tell the third pot to kick in is 5, which equates to about 5000 rpm. The instructions state the fourth pot should be set at 70-75% of max rpm. The recommendation is a good starting point, but I would
D like to be sure that this the best setting and I would just like to know what the max rpm is. Thanks you for all your input.
