Starting issue...

The rocker switch is 2 pieces held together by a third clamping type plastic cover. The internal contact springs force the pivoting internal parts open when they get worn. Unfortunately, I don't think you can buy just the rocker switch...it is soldered to the internal wire harness. I have only been able to find the whole right control assembly for sale...you would have to buy the entire think and then swap out the wiring harness..starter but and kill switch together....

I had an issue with mine last week, I do use mine and for some reason it didn't reset when I switched back on. only after trying it several times did it work. Wonder what a new one costs?

I am surprised more don't fail....the way they are Mickey Moused together, I would think more would come apart...LOL.

Yea, I just meant in case the glue job doesn't work for some reason, or is problematic, you could bypass the whole switch and not have any issues until you replaced it. I'd hate to be going on a ride somewhere and for the switch to decide to break some more, or the glue to let go or what not, LOL. No reason to mess with it if it's working, though.

I think that's the first one of those I've heard of breaking.... something else to put on the maintenance check list.

well...since I superglued the switch in the "run" position, I don't really need to "jump" it....just can't use it until I replace the whole right side control...and since my control housings are fully chromed, I will need to buy a used one and swap out the guts.....I most likely will get one off of ebay and just solder it in like the original....by the way, I really hate dealing with electrical issues; there are so many variables to trace down..I think that I just go lucky on this issue by finding it fairly quickly

Glad you found it, Seedman. Heck if you need to bypass it with a piece of wire until you get time to replace it. Like you, I rarely ever use mine.

well...I found the issue...there was no power to the starter switch and only power on one side of the kill switch contacts....bad kill switch..it had started to split apart and was no longer making contact across internal contact points....since I don't ever use it (I turn off with the key every time), I glued it together and will replace it when I have some spare time....what a PITA! I guess plastic does get brittle after 17 years....

Okay...so I have check the clutch switch...took it off and cleaned it with electrical contact cleaner, re-seated the connector, cleaned the starter switch and still nothing....neutral light is green, everything looks good....still nada....somewhere something is interrupting the connection between the starter switch and the starter itself....I guess I will start checking voltage and amps between the two when the starter button is pressed.....

I will check that as soon as I get back to my research farm this morning....Since the neutral light is on, it most likely isn't the neutral switch down on the side....

GB, you're right.
The bike will run even with the side stand down and the gear ingaged, but you have to keep the clutch lever pulled.

Clutch switch perhaps? I know this switch has caused several people issues. I don't have the diagram in front of me, and it's been a while since I tried it - but I believe if I remember correctly, you can put it gear with the side stand down, and it runs until you let the clutch out -- so check out clutch lever switch.

Need help...So today I rode to my research farm this morning. When I stopped to open the gate, I put the bike in neutral and put down the kickstand....and the bike just died...I made sure I was in neutral (indicator light is green) and push the starter button....nothing....I put the stand back up and down a couple of times and then moved in and out of neutral a few time, too. Finally, it started. However, when I went to head home this afternoon....nothing again...and no matter what I did to try and play with neutral and the kickstand...nothing. I can hear the injectors click when I press the started button...but nothing else. So, is it the neutral cut-off switch? Or?? Any help would be greatly appreciated...
