OK thanks for the feedback. it's too expensive anyways but does look pretty cool especially the butterflies opening with the throttle. But you're right, not going to improve performance and potentially could do harm or leave me stranded. Case closed.

Personally, I stay away from stuff I think will make a bike unreliable - my son had a front-facing "ram-air" type filter on his Shadow, looked cool and ran good  when it was dry  --  left us stranded in a rain storm, couldn't even ride it it was sucking in so much water.

That would be my concern also.

No experience with the hypercharger, but I grampsized my 800 (re-do the air cleaner mechanically, delete all the epa stuff, which required a large re-jet change).  I thought it made quite a difference.

 My humble opinion on Hyperchargers.............. They are like breast implants
They look really cool but really don't do much.
Basically, the hypercharger principle is a shiny flapper hooked up to the bikes vacuum system and at an idle it sits there and flops around profusely catching everyone's attention (ie: implants)
The only gain mechanically is that the flapper is facing forward and as you are moving air is sort of rammed into the air filter. along with bugs and dirt. if it ever fails and is stuck shut it would starve the engine of air giving a flooding scenario.
I have seen one on a 99 virago  that I was thinking of buying and almost bought it just for the Charger.
Super cool looking and would easily get your money back if you decided to sell the bike.

 Anybody got experience with these on a Vulcan 800? They look pretty cool and with the right exhaust sounds pretty awesome.  I've already rejetted the carb and run a K&N filter so it shouldn't change much in the way of performance.
