I also have a 99/1500J..the rubber will dry out and rot..used electrical tape which lasted for a few years, but ended up replacing all 4 indicators with new aftermarket ones. They work good and look good!

Similiar, I used electrician's tape because it doesn't  leave crap like duct tape that's left too long. If it starts to unwind , I just add another few winds.

update:  so there was no saving the broken turn signal but the "plasti dip" is a good fix for all the rest.  it fills all the cracks and gaps well if applied with a foam paint brush.  while i wait for the new turn signal from partzilla i have it held together with a large amount of electrical tape and some bits of clothes pin for support.

I temporarily repaired mine with black duct tape last year. It's worked so well I still have it on there.

I've never tried it myself, but what about buying one of the cheap & nasty copies on ebay, pulling the rubber off that and putting it on the Kawasaki indicator? You might have to tidy up the mould lines with a scalpel or razor blade, but it might work.

Tightly wound Black electrician's tape, around mine - starting low from the kickstand side, and finishing higher,  for the last 15,000 miles.

Had to dismantle the left indc, and re-solder the wire to the plate at the bottom of the bulb fitting, BUT this was just vibration and age (you become more unwired as you age  ).

Never heard of 'tool dip', but Superglue Gel would probably be effective.

I have heard of other people having to replace their lights due to the rubber braking.  I replaced mine with HD lights some time ago, which do not have the rubber stem.

walked out to the bike yesterday to find that the rubber on the rear turn signal finally gave out.  curious to see what others have done about this.  i think i might be able to fix it up with some super glue and tool dip.  any recommendations would be welcome.
