For 20 odd years I have been using full synthetic oils in all my vehicles... a couple had over 250,000 miles when I got rid of them. NEVER had an engine rebuild/failure problem. Synthetics don't fail under high temps, don't have to be changed as often,  and "repel" moisture better than dino oils. Don't use anything with friction reducing additives... we do have wet sump clutches. But, bottom-line... dino or synthetics need to be monitored and changed properly.

All I can tell you is what I have been using. Valvoline 10-40 MOTORCYCLE oil (not V-twin or synthetic) in the cooler spring and fall and the 20-50 version during the hot months. I change oil every 3000 miles, and right now, as of 2 am this morning I have 112,286 miles on the bike with ZERO oil consumption, original clutch, and no cam chain extenders necessary...

Have a 99/1500J and have been reading up on OILS! Gee..what a mess out there! The bike has 44K on the clock and I'm looking for a OIL that's for higher millage bikes. I've been told to use Mobil-1/Valvoline 20-50/Lucas Oil Stabilizer and Detergant Oils out on the market! I give Up...any ideas? Thanks.
