Cobra fuel controller

On my 02 It was spliced. But, they didn't have the R back then.Cobra lists the FI2000 tri pot w t-tap connectors.

Does the FI2000R work with 01 Drifter 1500? Or does it have to be the the FI2000 spliced?  The reason I ask is because I can find info that says the R is OK with nomad are classic, bit they never say drifter..  also I have found the Dynatek for the same price as cobra.  Any thoughts on one vs the other?
