I have a Correction on swaping parts. I have been having front brake problems on my 99/1500J Drifter. I picked up a complete fron brake set up..caliper/line/master cylinder from a 02 Vulcan 1500..but could never get the brake to pump up with the Vulcan system.
Did some more checking(and a lot of cussing)and found out that the bore on the master cylinder of the Vulcan is 1/2..and the bore on the master cylinder for the 1500J Drifter is 14MM! It seems to me(after much trial and error)the 1500J needs to be a bigger bore because it requires more pressure to operate the front brake properly. I have the original 1500J system back on the bike..with a rebuilt caliper/pressure tested brake line/and master cylinder rebuild kit installed. Filled it up with new DOT4,pumped up the line, put on my one way brake bleeder..and presto..firm lever and plenty of front brakes. to all..sorry for the wrong info prior! Respects.

From what I understand they  were the same thickness.

Interesting to know the thickness of the original undrilled drifter rotor compared to the Classis. I replace my front rotor with OEM drifter. Just to know for next time.

:o well been riding with the rotor off the 2000 Vulcan Classic for 3 summers now

I'll be adding anything you guys come up with to the cross reference. Please be sure you have personal knowledge of this stuff.

And thanks.

I had a Damaged front caliper with a stuck piston and the handlebar master cylinder had severe road rash. I replaced the entire front brake system with one off of a Vulcan Classic. Mine was a 99 1500 Drifter and the replacement was from a 02 Vulcan Classic. During the replacement I observed that the Caliper Holder for the Vulcan Classic is flat, and the Caliper Holder on the 1500 Drifter has a 1 3/8 stand off....otherwise the 1500 Vulcan Classic and the 1500 Drifter are the same! Change out the Caliper Holder and your good to go! FYI.

Classic brake rotors will interchange between the 800's.

If the p/n's are the same they are interchangeable. Most things on the Classic can be used by the Drifter... but you need to check.

Here is a cross-listing we are still developing. Anyone who has information to be added please provide that info so we can add to the listing.

Check on the Partzilla site. Good source of information. It looks like the part numbers are the same.

Will the Ignition Switch and Locking Fuel Cap from a Vulcan Classic work/fit on a 99 Drifter J..? Are parts inter-changeable between the two models..and what years will fit what? Thanks.
