I know we are talking oranges and apples, but I know that the 800s can swap covers with any 800 vulcan.......just need to check parts numbers.

Thanks, I seen them for sale and was thinking if I ever need to do some engine work maybe I would swap them out on my 2000 Drifter.

Look like my '99 Drifter covers.

I have checked the 'RonAyers.com' fiche and the "where used" button says the -1167 is for 1999 to 2008 Classics & Nomads, but only 2002 to 2005 Drifters - the R series.

The -1166 is for the 1999 & 2000 Drifters - the J series.

Different between J and R (for your purposes)?   The J is blacked out with natural metal finishes - the R is Chromed.

I reckon they're the same part, except for the finish. The EPA hoses rubbed channels in my '99 heads so I smoothed and repainted them with an Aluminium finish , like the originals.

I don't know if the Chrome is just a paint too.     :D

I was wondering if anyone has changed out the rocker case covers on the Drifter 1500 to a different model such as the Nomad 1500? The parts look similar.

This is the part no. for the Drifter 1500 2000

And this is the part no. for the Nomad 1500 2002

Maybe a better way of asking the question to anyone who has done engine work on their 1500
" Do these photos of the Nomad 1500 2002 rocker cover case look like they might fit on a Drifter 1500 1999 or 2000?"
