800 more valuable than 1500?

Looking at Cycle Trader, 800's going from 3900 - 7900, but 1550s going for ~2900.  Seems 800s are more desirable than 1500s.  Weight?

Note: These are asking prices. Reality is what they actually pay. A $7900.00 800 Drifter might not sell quickly.

I'm at a loss as to why everybody seems to be worried about resale value. I have my 1500, and I'm just 74 miles short of 110,000 miles on it, as of this afternoon, and I really don't care about value...just reliability. Sure it's nice when people comment on how nice it looks, but nobody ever asks how much it's worth....to me, it's priceless, but I tend to keep things I like for a long time...it's a vehicle, NOT an investment!

That's what I think, too... and I'm keepin' my bike since I bought her in july 1999!

My Drifter 800 is VERY valuable to me.

That said, I am so glad these Drifter motorcycles of both flavors are very undervalued and you can buy either one of them for a fraction of the price of other cruisers.

My plan as soon as I sell one of my companies is to buy at least one more Drifter because they are SO valuable, yet, under-priced!

With the increasing rarity and super cool history and designs of both Drifters, I see them only appreciating in the future.

Ok, you 800 lovers.  I owned both and priced out both.   800's Core range is 2k to 4k and 1500's core range 3k to 6k.  As with anything is miles, condition and accessories.  Cycletrader in any given month price fluctuates on both, that and comparing 1500's with 60000 and 70000 miles to 800's with 7000 is not a market price point or apples to watermelons.  Their are some 800's and 1500's that are in the higher end of the scale based on ultra low miles, ultra mint condition but the core values remain.

I seen several mint low milage 1500's sale in the past year for $6,000 to $7000 but never seen a mint low milage 800 sale above $5000 or any thing close to 6 to 7 k range.  The obvious is engine size and both are designed and born from the 1940's ere Indian Chief.  Both are awesome machines that we call our Drifters.........

But I would consider even the fact that in the USA there are less 800 than 1500 Drifters. Isn't it?

 If it is a guessing game I would venture to say it is due to the Vintage styling, the looks of the 800 are more a retro look then the shock set up of the 1500......
