Hi Szokez,

I have V&H Nomad pipes on my '99, it pops on a closed throttle, currently I just have to put up with it . I could do with it in OZ - postage from the States is prohibitive now on top of cost of a III, so I've delayed getting one. How cheap are you offering it ?

:o  Well if your giving it away and we can get it across the border I'll take the bike for sure........ ::)

Thanks everyone, I got rid of it today. Found the connections, disconnected them, and it runs like a champ.
Anybody wants it?

They do get removed. Most likely you will need to remove the fuel tank to get to the wiring for the injectors. I believe there are instructions for installation on the makers web site, so you would just do it in reverse....

Is there an easy way to get rid of the damn thing? I don't think I'll need it since the factory pipe is back on. How can I disconnect it? Or do I need to take it to a shop to get rid of it?

Troll

If you have one, it will most likely be under the left side cover, sitting in the tray that would hold a charcoal canister for a California emissions spec bike

Just done a search on a power commander. I'm on a 48 hr shift with the FD, but on Tuesday morning first thing I will look for it on my bike.

Szokez

Not sure, but I'll try to fine out from the previous owner. How do I find the power commander? Can it be adjusted to the new pipes? It makes a lot of sense since it backfires a couple of times and black smoke comes out at the beginning.
I can't thank you enough for your time and valuable advice.

Troll

OK, then....does it have a power commander installed? If it was set up for the V&H pipe, then it will now be WAY TOO RICH

Sounds like a good start.  Thanks.
One more thing: it came with an aftermarket pipe by Vance & Hines. Did not like it at all, and was able to get an original fishtail. It was put on by the local Kawasaki service, and that's when the problem started. I asked them if the pipe change has to do anything with the isssue, but the answer was no. I guess I should have started with this vital info. Sorry.

Base idle speed should be set to 1,000 rpm hot. Have the cold idle solenoids been disconnected? You may need to clean the throttle plates, as crap builds up on them, just like in a car.

Hi there.
I bought my 1500 2 months ago and rode it for a few hundred miles without any issues. And than this: when I start the bike cold I have to crank it several times and the idle is sluggish for the first minute. Than it settles but when I try to ride, it chokes up and shuts down. Both accelerating and decelerating results in choking the engine. Sounds like it doesn't get any fuel. It goes on for about 5 minutes and a few miles, and it slowly goes away by playing with the throttle. Than it runs like a dream. But if I stop the engine it needs several cranks before it starts again, and than it runs just fine. Any ideas? Thanks.
