I still see post's for solo seats for your Drifter, Original, aftermarket etc..      Any seat can be made to fit with a couple hours of fairly simple work'  Pictured here is a Mustang wideglide Harley seat.  Any decent sized swap mart or craigslist will have plenty to chose from.  Shop carefully and you can get great seats for 50 bucks or so,
And a 50 dollar seat is cheap enough to try to modify [especially considering the price of alternatives]
The seat i have has a passenger pad attached which isn't needed, So flip it over and cut the base carefully after drilling out the rivets that hold material to pad.
Take your time . it's a seat....not brain surgery and also not a marathon or sprint...just enjoy the craft.
after removing the rear pad from the upholstery, cut the "Leather' with a sharp razor making sure to leave enough to fold back under the seat and attach with rivets [and glue if it helps..not really necessary]
The biggest issue with making a seat fit the 1500 is the Frame 'Ears" for the saddlebags.  place seat on bike, mark carefully with a white crayon or marker the "Channel for those ears.
Using a cutoff wheel or sharp snips cut the channel out.
Use pliers to pluck the foam out of channel
test and refit until seat sits level.
at this point when seat is where you want it you can epoxy or fiberglass the channel to seal the base closed to keep water out. {again not necessary as water has to come up over the fender and across your battery tray to soak the foam,,,,,,If your in water that deep,,you have bigger issues;]
you can modify your original seat brackets or just bend up some simple ones and attach to original seat bracket holes.
This mod make for an extremely comfy seat..better handling of bike as your are 'in it" rather than "on it' as the factory seat tends to make the bike feel a bit topheavy....the difference will amaze you.
Added bonus is the reduced height from stock when gives the Inseam challenged an ability to place both feet on ground.
This mod makes the seat perfect for tall and short alike.
