Fuel Gauge for Drifter 800

I'm routinely getting 50-55mpg with my 800.  Interesting there's that much difference.  I run 87 octane that has up to 10% ethanol (required in my area).

That is awesome.

My last tank fill I was doing much better, too. Definitely almost 50 miles per gallon. I am psyched!  I think 50 - 55 mpg on a bike that is this beautiful and looks like art moving down the road IS the best of both worlds.

Okay. So I am getting about 120 miles on about 3 gallons (before reserve). So a bit under 40 MPG. So, acceptable MPG.

The BIG question then---Is there an aftermarket larger tank that fits in with the look of the Drifter? I would say a 5.5 gallon tank would be pragmatic.

I seem to be at the gas station all the time! And I have to twist that reserve valve way, way too often! 'Had to do it last night at 11:30 PM in the middle of the country with closest gas station miles away. My house was closer. Went about 15 miles and I was praying I would not run out.

where theres a will, theres a way 
I could see maybe cutting off the flange part of this one, putting a hole on the LH side of the tank and making this work....

You would have to weld in a Harley type bung, or possibly some fancy retrofitting, but something like this should be possible using a aftermarket capacitance type sender

there was a person who was doing larger tanks for a Drifter and it was someplace in the range of $1000.00 per gallon if I remember correctly. He also wanted your tank and he would cut and add to it, so you were going to be down for however long it took him to do the work, then painting.....was too expensive a proposition for me. I find the tank not to bad and on a long ride I carry my fuel cells with me and so have an extra 66 oz of fuel to get me closer to a fuel supply.

if you are getting 125 miles to a tank that would be 201.1625 kms to a tank so you are getting a lot more then me.
I am only getting 111.84987 miles to a tank......

probably the difference between miles and kilometers.

Mine is miles. 125 miles.

ok found the picture, now this is a really nice piece of kit to have on your ride, when i first started with my Drifter at 150 I needed to get gas and since then after some tweaking and such I can now make the numbers show 180 before I need to go to reserve. Cheap and decent fuel gauge......oh not what you were looking for ok.....

Something must be wrong with mine. Admittedly I haven't had it that long. But, I reset the trip odometer when I fill it and need to go to reserve at about 125.

the only add-on ones I've seen for a non-efi bike are the fuel sight tubes. I think they look pretty sweet, but I'm not sure about longevity and not leaking.

  There is one and it is free, it should have come with your bike. Let me see if I can find a picture of it.....

Are there any off the shelf, easy to install fuel gauges for Drifter 800?
