I was asking the same question in regards the Right Side Engine Cover (Clutch Cover) for a 2001 VN800E1 Drifter. The different wholesale/retail outlets confuse the #@*^ out of me with their listings - then when you contact them they can't tell you which of the covers you would receive if ordering by part number - really helpful.

Hi one and all, can anyone advise if the Right Engine Clutch Cover - Part # 14032-1403 and Part # 14032-1489 are interchangeable?

The reason I ask is that I have a 2001 VN800E1 Drifter but I prefer the look of the "Ribbed" cover rather than the plain chrome cover. Unfortunately when you go onto different websites they show both both covers.

The part looks like the attached and fits numerous VN800 makes, models and years as per the attached diagram.

If they are interchangeable and anyone has the "Ribbed" one for sale, or knows where I can buy one, please get in contact with me. If the price is right I am happy to pay for everything including shipping (Yes - I know it's expensive) to New Zealand.

Thanks in advance - stay safe, stay sane, keep the sun on your back, the rubber on the road.  ::)

the part number would have to be different, but the gasket and other internal parts would give you the ultimate clue.

Are you sure the parts numbers are the same or is it the fiche index numbers that are the same?

Oooookay! I just checked it out. The way I interpret it, the "reference" number is the same for either year..............but the "part" number is definitely different!

Ok I see my mistake, never even noticed that difference, but the part numbers are the same other then that small difference. Guess that means Troll will not hire me for his parts counter guy.

Here's a composite picture of the two l/s cases. There is an oval chrome cover over the two big screw plugs on the 2003 that isn't on the 2000

ok not an expert, but after checking ron ayers site the parts number for the 2000 and 2003 are the same for the covers.

14032-1489
14031-1360
1490-1552
14026-1257

they are the same for both years.

That's odd  :o, they are completely different in exterior appearance! especially the left cover with those two big cap screws for the 2000 as oppose to the 2003 that has an oval plate held in place by one screw. If they share the same part number I wonder what defines the correct part either model year?
