I would say that the first and most important thing to do is to hook it up to power and verify that the electronics are working.  Replacing the brain on these bike can set you back a ways, and this bike has been in the weather for 2 years now.  I wouldn't fire it, but I might pull the plug wires and turn it over to make sure it's free.  After all that, if it's all good, $1500.00 might be a good fair price.

We all love pictures. You will likely find the Pictures board here. But there is also a Drifter Picture Gallery worth your time. You will have to register post any pics. Once you register and become a member a personal gallery will be created for you. To access your gallery simply click on the "View Gallery" link under your name on the left hand side of any post you make. Or click on the Gallery link and navigate to your username.

IMHO, you'd give him the lower one, but not less, because it seems to be a fair price.
If you're not persuaded, just take a look over the internet: there are many Drifters on sale and their prices are way higher...

I recently saw a 2002 Drifter (1500) sitting on a trailer out in the sticks of South Carolina.  I stopped and talked to the guy who owned it.  He lost his leg about 2 years ago and feels he can no longer ride.  The bike has been sitting on a trailer, out in the weather for over a year.  He said it has low miles, but who really knows.  It is obvious the bike will need a lot of work.
He wants 2k, said he'd take 1.5 k, but I'm not sure.
Any ideas what to offer the guy?
