800 ENGINE OIL Type Different from 2000-04 to 2005-06

 Trall you think it is hard for you in this Drifter world......I have a 99 and everything starts in 2000 on every US site, even all our info is based from 2000....lol.......

The reason for the oil info like that is because in 2005 sort of like GreenBarn has stated, it was not the engineers it was the ad and sales people, decided people were to easy to confuse so let us just give them one choice of oil and then they will be happy really, like do not give little children a lot of choices at dinner or they get all messed up.......Hotdogs, or nothing simple choice.....lol........

Here a ODD mechanical OIL question?- Why does the 800 Drifter's for the years 2000 thru 2004 have 4 Engine Oil Weight options 10W40, 10W50, 20W40, AND 20W50 compared to the one only of 10W40 choice for 2005 thru 2006?

I don't understand why there are 4 weight choices for 2000-2004 and only one for 2005-2006.

I don't know the answer for sure.  But I'm not aware of any modifications made to the engines (haven't heard of any).  So just a guess:  the engineers decided in 2005 that the 10W40 worked better than the other weights, so limited it to 10W40??

I don't know the answer on the viscosities listed for the different years, but that's a very good deal for full synthetic. Does the Quicksilver specifically say it's OK for a wet clutch?

Yes for wet clutch and all a twin engines.
Here the label on back.   Also waiting on payday to go stock up on more.

 I normally use motorcycle Mobile 1 Racing 4T 10W40 oil full syn at $44 for 4 qts.  but I recently did an oil change and that was not available and bought another quality company Quicksilver Motorcycle 4 stroke oil 20W50 full synthetic for only $25 for 4 qts./1gallon at Walmart. Almost half the cost.

Huge savings and Quicksilver makes all the oil products for boat engines, motorcycles, etc.
