As for the missing seat bolt you can order them through your local Kaw shop. Or contact Paul in Sackville NB at his bike shop and he might have some in stock.

I had the same problem a while back and Troll had the answer for me. Here is his suggestion:

"Never had this kind of problem, but sometimes you have to improvise. Using a small punch and a hammer at the end of the slot to impact turn the cap will probably knock it loose. I always put a dab of teflon paste on the threads before I put it back."

I always just used a quarter and vice grips.

I ended up getting it off.

Used a paint scraper that fit the slot a lot more snug than the big driver I had. Then used vice grips and it opened right up.

So successfully changed the oil my first time. yay!

Here is another question, got back home from storage and I have a seat bolt missing, must have forgotten to tighten it.  Are these chrome bolts hard to find? Can I just go get a couple at a hardware store or at the dealer?

Like Ratman says ,use a piece of flat stock that fits the whole slot. it needs to be the same width of the slot to apply pressure along the edge. Or try to find a drag link socket . Someone probably tightened it down dry with no oil on the rubber gasket. Same mistake people make with oil filters.

  Relax, got a cold one, sit back and just rest your mind. Someone over tightened the thing, it does not need to be torqued in there like it is holding the whole bike together.  I used a piece of flat stock and vise grips the one time I had an issue with it. I personally would not heat it up because it does have a rubber gasket on it. If you have a wide flat tip screwdriver then try using vise grips on the shaft to turn it but careful you do not want to strip it......

cannot undo the screw to put  njew oil in\
have a long screwdriver
