scootworks phatriser II - from ?'s about highway pegs

gcates, those guards are referred to by another name, which escapes me at the moment.  I think they are usually used  along with saddlebags.  Like Sir Ratman said, what you need is an engine crash bar, like he showed.   If you do not like those rear bars - I would think you could sell them and put the money towards an engine crash bar.   I think the ones you have are fairly rare and could perhaps be sought after.

As an alternative, I think there are frame-mounted foot pegs you could get by with until you get a crash bar.

Gcates, I've seen your bike has got such an unusual backrest...and it looks really comfortable...

That is quite a bit of difference.  After sitting on my bike and trying to get a feel for what will work, I'm thinking the crash bar/peg installation is gonna be what I want.  Especially with the new risers.  I can't really afford all of that right now, so I think it'll just be the risers for now.  Bummer...

   I am going to go out on a limb here and say there is no way those will mount up front with out a bit/lot of work to modify them.
I have attached a picture of the front engine guard for you to see the difference in mounting.

So on a second look, I don't suppose it's a full engine guard, but rather two pieces.  I'll try and include a pic so you guys can advise if I can mount them up front.  I've always thought they get in the wife's way when she's on the back.

  you have a front engine guard behind the engine? I have not seen this before , so could you take a few pictures and post them for me to see this. I had tabs welded on my front engine guard to mount the highway pegs. Will see this summer if that is better then the clamps I had on last summer.

I've read some solid reviews on those but I don't see them on the scootworks website.  I've asked him about the Large ISO pegs, but haven't heard anything back from him.  I see they sell the mounts and also a "peg extension" under the accessories section.  But I'm a relative newbie to this and I just don't know where to start.

ETA: I'm finding most folks are mounting pegs to their crash bars.  I've got a crash bar, but it's behind the engine instead of in front.  I don't really want to buy another one just to mount pegs.  Mine looks like the cobra model.  Thoughts on trying to take it off the back and mounting it up front?

I can measure the frame size to get the right size mounts.  The bigger question is if anyone can help me pick a mount/peg combination that will come out from the frame far enough to be comfortable.

The frame is the same diameter tubing as the F.I. Classic.

So I'm in the process of ordering some phatrisers II from Scootworks.  I ordered chrome, but they are out and have asked if I'd be interested in the polished.  I'm seeing if there is anyway I can work this to my advantage and the sales person and I are in a dialog about a possible discount on highway pegs.  He's asked what I'd be interested in, but I'm not 100% on the fitment on my 2005 800 drifter.  I believe the frame to be 1.25 inches so I'd need that in a mount (please correct me if I'm wrong in that), but I wonder how far out these pegs are going to come away from my bike to put me in a comfortable spot.  Anyone have any experience with pegs mounted to a frame and not a crash bar.  Any help/advice is appreciated!!
