Very sorry to hear of his passing.  He always was one for some jokes.

I bounce in and out of here, and it seems that sadly.....I never had the pleasure to meet Mr. Hopkins. It speaks well for a  man to have so many remember him so fondly. We only have one thing to leave as a legacy on this earth when our mortal existence is over.........the memories of who and what we were/are to those whose lives we touched and those who loved us, be they blood family.......or family we chose for ourselves. If we are always remembered.......then we are never gone.
It would seem Mr. Hopkins is still with us.....and always will be.......and I am the lesser for having not known him.

Anyone know what he passed away from?  71 is pretty young.

Last I heard he died in his sleep, but they did not know why yet.

Well I just registered here today, and I am a member of Honda Shadow.net, since I own a 2000 Shadow 750 ACE, and low and behold I find out that John was a member here also, I don't know if any of you know that he wrote a book about riding around wales and his V-Max. Well he sent us at Shadow.net a copy and we have been passing it around amongst ourselves here in the US. for a few years and I just happened to be the one holding when John dies. Very sad and surreal, but R.I.P John Hopkins and ride on for eternity.

Welcome aboard, Bill....   Small world it is - I joined the HSN forum some time ago for the sole purposes of following the book.   I got to meet up with a fellow, jkustomz28, back in sept '13 and got in on the fun.   John was active on several bike forums, I gather - He will be missed much by many.

Chief, she told me she had a box of them for sale. you can find her email address in one of my post about his passing.

I had John send me 2 copies and one is making its way around Canada, and I am taking my copy to Drift In with a promise to Wendy for people to at  least see it and she would like to see a picture of it with the group of Drifters.

There were sweet potatoes at our church pot-luck yesterday.   I got some, and I thought of John.  I'm sure every time I eat sweet potatoes, I'll think of him.

I asked Wendy if she could send me a copy of John's obit so I could post a copy of it and here is her response, after I explained what an obit was.

some ppl do, I don't know if we are. my sister might, he is getting
cremated on Tuesday 5th may at 9am, we are not having a service. maybe
you could pass on the info and we could have a silence at 9am. I'll
keep in touch.

Not sure of the time difference but I'll keep the 5th open for thoughts of John and how he made a lot of us laugh here, and the squirrel story is my favorite, and we should all have a sweet potato for a snack that day.

I got another e mail from Wendy today and here it is.....just to put it into context, it is about the book John had written "Wales on a motorbike", John had sent me a copy, and I sent it on its way after reading, not sure were it is, he also sent me one he signed, which I have here. I will be bringing my book to Drift In for John, but if you want your own copy you can contact Wendy before they are all gone.

Yes I would like my email address posted. I know all about his book travels. When it comes back I would like a photo of all the signatures. I also have a box of the books to sell so if ppl want to place orders. I'm only selling to the USA because you have all been so much fun.

I really enjoyed john's sense of humor, and his banter, and his jokes.  He will be sadly missed.  Ride On, John Hopkins.

I need to pass this on, today I got this email from Wendy who is John's daughter, and reading her e mail you can see she has her dad's sense of humour even at this time. I sent her an e mail because a card would take to long and be lost. Here is her e mail.

Sorry

I'm Wendy Hazelwood.

My dad sadly passed away on Monday 20th April 2015. I don't know if you are friends or just people he paid bills too, but if it matters to you or you know a site that he chatted on, please pass on the information, as my Dad entered many ppls lives online, and I would really like them to be informed. Sympathy cards can be sent to his children at his house.

John was 71 years of age and still was always on about more rides and such in all his pm's to me. The Drifter World has lost another Rider.

Thanks.
