 8) Them WWW's sure make her look so elegant. Why do you have a parka on this time of year, and no snow in site......

I went with the Metzeler 880's.  Have had several compliments of them. I got them from a local tire shop. To get the $50 rebate card, I think you have to get them from  participating dealer. The closest one to me was about 80 miles away. I've put about 80 miles on them and they seem to handle the road well.

 8) You really want to have GB give up his job as the tire dude........he does an awesome job 'splaining things to us.....

I didn't look them up (to be exact) but the 150/80 should be about the same diameter ( no change in gear ratio ) as  the 140/90.  The 150 will be 10 mm wider (nominal).  If Metz lists it as an upgrade, that means it should fit fine without rubbing or any other problems (if they are correct).  I'd go with the 150 if I had the choice.

I tried to post the link to the info page but could not. Here is the pathway to the Metzeler upgrade that I was referring to.  Click Links--mod.tips.maintenance--fenders,wheels,tires--Tire Up-grades.

I would appreciate hearing what he ha to say. I won't be buying mine until March or April.

No I stayed with the size that the bike came with, 130/90-16 front and 140/90-16 rear. I'll have to ask my tire expert on is opinion on that upgrade, but I have my tires for now so will stick to them and hope to get the same miles as from the last tires. Once my tire expert gets home from AZ and is ready to get to work again he can answer my questions on if this is a good upgrade.
Thanks Mike.

Ratman, Did you go with standard sizes? I noticed Metzeler recommends a 150/80 16 71HTL as their stage one upgrade for the Drifter 800 for the rear tire.
I was not sure what to go with for the rear tire. Mike

After reviewing the posts, I've finally narrowed my tire replacement to a set of Metzeler WW's. I just checked their page and they are having a $50 Visa Card rebate starting 2-1 through 4-30 for non-race tire sets. If you are planning new tires this spring, it might be worth checking out.
