I'm using the Kawasaki exhaust mounts I mentioned in my post, and they have been in service for over 35,000 miles with no deterioration. They are hard rubber with steel inserts and seem to nearly indestructible. They are the same mounts used by the factory on my W-650 which is now 16 years old with almost 25,000 miles on it ( I know, I don't ride it enough).

I purchased the collar and damper that you provided part numbers for. The grommets fit 1/8" thick metal, so I built a complete new bracket. I found an old lawn mower blade which had the exact offset as the original mount, cut it to the right length and welded on two 1/8" plates (upper & lower), drilled to match the grommet holes for the upper connection. Sandblasted, painted, it looks good and fits fine.

Thanks Troll.

You have to replace the right side footpeg mount with one for a classic as indicated in the various mods. The classic footpeg mount provides the rubber mounting. You can then either use classic pipes with the supplied bracket, or do the T-stan bracket to mount Drifter pipes. I did this years ago... classic footpeg mount/ T-stan bracket/ Drifter pipes.

Maybe I'm "making a mountain out of a molehill", but getting good isolation without metal to metal contact seems dang near impossible without a total re-design.

Edit: Looking carefully at the two solutions posted, it looks like Troll's solution might just work if the two upper holes on the muffler mounting bracket are enlarged to fit the W-650 rubber grommets. I wish the photos of Troll's solution were larger.

Which Roadhouse exhaust do you have? Take some pics of the setup and maybe we can help.

02 Drifter. OK, I have a bit of vibration with the hard mount Roadhouse exhaust. Not too bad, but I read here that it's not good for the muffler - I assume the weld points may eventually crack. Don't want that. I read T-Stan's and Troll's solution (http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/tbracket.html) and frankly still can't figure out how to apply that to this mounting setup.

I removed the muffler and header pipe assembly today with the intent to isolate the mounting points. Sure, I can add rubber grommets to both the upper and lower attach points, all four bolts, but there's still metal to metal contact at the bolt heads and nuts, and bolt hole mount pass-through(s). Can't see where that's all that effective. Seems to me that the bolts would need rubber shielding around the shafts and each end. Now that could be accomplished by enlarging the bolt holes, but the roadhouse muffler exhaust is a mighty heavy rascal, and the bolts would eventually wear through the surrounding rubber. That's the way it seems to me anyway.

Is there anyone on here who has successfully rubber mounted and isolated a Roadhouse exhaust system?
