Michelin commander II. I was due for a new pair today. The last commender did 28 000km and could probaly do a bit more, but I was going on a long trip so I put a new set of commander for the ride!

  I have a set of Metzeler ME 880's on my 800 and find them to be a really good tire. I have not used Michelin Commander II's yet so can not compare to them but to the Maxxis I did have a huge difference.
I think from your description we might have close to the same riding style and speeds so I think this tire would be right for you.

And it does come in White Walls for that awesome reto look, and what is a little cleaning on them rainy days....some therapy.

After being a Metzeler fan for over 30 years, I switched to the Michelin Commander II in 2012. I put 25,000 miles on my first set and now, with 12,000 on the second set, I can heartily endorse them. I have a 1500, so there is more weight, power and torque load on my tires than on yours, and most of my mileage is put on in the 60-70 mph range. Sorry no white wall...not a problem for me, I hate cleaning anyway!

Michelin Commander II's. I know there are several people that run them on here. Good traction, long wearing, I highly recommend.

I have a 2005 Drifter purchased 2 years ago with 15,000 miles. I now have 17,000_ miles and am in need of a rear tire. I value the experience of other users and respectfully ask what is the most recommended/preferred tire?
Riding style: Moderate
Usual ride: 3 - 5 hour day trip over rolling hills
Exceptional ride: Rolling Thunder in DC (8 hour ride each way - day in DC)
