Took me a LONG time to get mine. Like many, I didn't think much of it at first. I've had lots of bikes over the years, and many H-Ds...I actually wasn't really looking for a bike when mine came along, but I couldn't say no. The price was good (it's a barn find, I bought it with a broken trans and not running) and my FLT was sneaking up on 200,000 miles. After I got the problems fixed, and started riding it regularly, I started to realize what a dummy I had been all those years. I've had it on the road since March of 2010, and I've put almost 63,000 miles on it since then. When I hit 103,000 this year (500 more to go) I will put it away for the year and concentrate on my W-650. Bought that one in Nov. '08, and got it on the road on my birthday in Feb 2009, with 9,500 miles then, 24,000 now. Yes I actually ride my machines...

Recovering H-D owner...W-650 Cafe' No excuses...Ride it or sell it to someone who will!

Pricing guides are just that.  The trouble with Drifters is that there were so few made that they are not a huge buy and sell market. For pricing guides to really be effective they need to track sales.  The more sales the better.

$3500 to $4500 is reasonable price for a Drifter. That said I've seen where guys ask upwards of $6500 bucks for reasonably equipped 1500's.  Even at upwards of $4500 they are a lot of bike for the money.  I paid $3200 for mine three years ago loaded with 12K on the clock.  They are out there.  The thing is they are not for everyone.  Some consider them an "acquired taste".   Fortunately they suit mu taste just fine.

Make an offer.  You'll like the bike when you get it.

The windshileld, engine guard, 2 up seat with backrest are all add-on's.  Depending on the 2up seat, you've got maybe around $1200 of add-on's, new.  If the seat is a Corbin seat for example, that's a rather expensive seat.  If it's maybe a Fire & Steel seat, then with all the other stuff you're closer to that $1200 number total.

You can ID the seat with this guide: http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/drifterseats.html

As for the bike and the price, That range seems pretty good to me for an average bike, but for a really nice one I might be prepared to go a bit more.

Old Drifter

I would use KBB and NADA as a guide, however I wouldn't be too worried about sticking to those prices. For me, I'd look at the bike's overall condition, maint.history and take that into consideration. Then offer whatever your comfortable paying. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

Met a guy who's thinking of selling his 04 - 1500 Drifter.  He's not riding it that often 2-4 times a year.
Has over 8000 miles,  and seems to be in good shape as far as what could be seen.  Checking KBB and NADA for here,  it shows anywhere from $3200 to $4500.   Drifters are not that known here.  Don't know why they didn't catch on, or that Dealers really did sell many.

It has windshileld, engine guard, 2 up seat  with backrest for passenger, and no real add-ons or modifications.   Pretty much stock the rest of the way.

What do you folks think "generally" speaking would be a  reasonable price range ?
Anything specific to check or  watch out for ?

Been wanting to sell one of the bikes I have, and have been keeping an eye out for a clean 1500 drifter for awhile now.
