Tall passenger problem

The horseshoe stayed as designed, except for turning the crossbar over to adjust the height for the new passenger seat, and slotting the mounting holes so I can just loosen 4 acorn nuts and lift it up and off, leaving the bag struts in place, or I can take the nuts off and remove the bags and struts as an assembly. The big mod was to the Nomad passenger seat, itself.

When you said you reworked the horseshoe, what exactly did you do? This the kind of set up I would like to do. Do you have pictures of what was done to mod?

The seat I installed for the passenger on my 01 is a modified Nomad seat, and it sits flat and above the back of the front seat. I reworked the horseshoe so I can remove it by loosening 4 acorn nuts and lifting the whole thing off. So far, it seem to be working well after using it all last seson

Corbin makes a drivers back rest.... not sure if the 1500 seat could accommodate one or not.    But if it could take one.... that would give the passenger something to brace against during braking.

I am not sure I could ever get used to riding on the back of a motorcycle for long distances.  Kudos to anyone who does it and enjoys it.  The only bike my girl friend has ever enjoyed being on the back of was my Goldwing.

  Are you using pegs or boards for the passenger?

Need to agree with PC here if you mod your seat and remove a bunch of padding and go to a gel insert on the passenger seat and then perhaps cant the seat level back a tad would be the answer.

Honestly, short or tall passengers have the same problems. I put a Corbin seat on mine, same problem.  The only solution to the pitching forward problem I have found is to radically modify the rear portion of the Corbin seat... perhaps a king/Queen style. What is needed is a flatter design where the rear of the driver seat is the same relative height as the rear of the passenger seat.

The problem with the seat height issue is that the rear fender moves and needs the clearance, and that's why the seat is higher.  About the only way to significantly lower it is to remove a good portion of the padding (there is a lot) and pull the cover tight over the new seat shape.  A heavy duty shock in back and heavy duty 1500 springs with maybe some thicker oil in the forks would all help on the pitching issue when stopping.  Welding in lower pegs is a good idea as she'll be in a more comfortable riding position.  If the pegs are a little more forward she could use them to keep from pitching on stops too.  Other then that, I'm not sure what else could be done.  Maybe someone else will have another idea or two?

Wondering if anyone else has had this issue... My wife is 6'0 with really long legs 36" inseam the problem is when she rides on the back of my 800 with her feet on the passenger boards it's also a tough ride because with the 2 up seat and the back seat so much higher than  the front she pitches forward when we stop.. I was wondering if any one has any ideas I was looking at the 2 up seat from singh as it sits lower and was thinking of maybe having pegs welded lower for her
