800 Corbin seat question

I didn't get any pictures of the seat taken, but it was 60 degrees in Seattle over the last 3 days so I have been out getting my ass grease all over the new Corbin.

I used the brackets off of my factory solo seat.... the bracket that screws to the seat pan for the Corbin seat u bracket.  I will take some pictures when I get out there working on the bike.

Yes, the "Corbin" Corbin seat does just that.  The "Kawasaki" Corbin I don't know, but suspect used the horseshoe.

Yes, the OEM and F&S two-up seats need the subframe on the 800.

Now that I am thinking on this subject I did send a Corbin seat to Nanook once and I took a quick look at it and I am thinking that the Corbin seat bolts right to the bike and has nits own frame on it.

I'll bet you have the Kawasaki (sold) Corbin (built) seat.  I think it was available from Kaw as an accessory.   Do you have pics by chance, that would tell the tale.

My seat has a Corbin tag on it and it utilizes the bracket pictured above.  Perhaps Corbin used the factory seat pan on some seats?  I will take some pictures and post on here soon.

Seat rail vs subframe... For the 800 Corbin (from corbin) the support is built into the seat ( on the 1500 you still need the horseshoe bracket). The oem grab rail won't fit and the subframe isn't needed... which means other add-ons won't work with the corbin either.

Hey, I checked the Corbin website and found the following:

Tech Info   Installation: Remove the stock seat subframe. Corbin's saddle has a subframe built in and bolts to your Drifter with four bolts.

Tech Info   This saddle does not fit with the Kawasaki saddlebags available as an option on your Drifter.

This is listed under the "Notes" section of their Drifter 800 Dual Tour seat.
I forgot to ask - this IS a "Dual Tour" model, right?   I was not aware of any other 2-up model they made to fit the Drifters.

I'm pretty sure, though, that sub-frame is not required for the Corbin 2-up, Larry.   It's been over a year since I've had mine off, going on 2, but now that I see Ratman's pics,  I'm sure it does not have that horse shoe type bracket/ sub frame.  Those 2 bolts are where the Corbin 2 up bolts onto the frame.  If the horse shoe was bolted on, there would be no place to bolt the Corbin on to.   This is, unless they have change the design at some point, and I have either the old or new design, and you have the other.

Once you get your solo seat off, I think you'll find the Corbin bolts strait on, and that you have an extra bracket for a factory 2-up that you don't need.  Like I said, I could be wrong - there could be 2 styles of Corbin seats.   If in doubt, you could contact Corbin and I'm sure they would be happy to help you.  I have found them helpful in the past answering e-mails (although perhaps a little slow- a few days maybe) about information on re-covering their seats.

The pictured one is what looks like the one under my Corbin 2 up.  That piece of hardware came with the 2 up Corbin when I got it.  I don't have any reason to believe it is not the same hardware.  I was just wanting to confirm it.

I am now using a Corbin 2 up seat.  Under the Corbin 2 up seat, there is a metal sub frame....  It looks similar to this one.....

I am wondering if this is the same as the stock two up seat.

Which seat rail are you referring to, Larry?  I cant remember there being a seat rail on my stock solo (not saying there isn't just that I can't recall).

The Corbin is quite a bit different...   I don't think there is a rail under it either on the 800.

There is a seat rail under the Corbin 2 up seat.  I have not seen the 2 up factory seat.  I am just wondering if there the seat rail under the Corbin matches up with the factory seat.  Did Corbin use the factory rail.

My 01 800 came with a solo factory seat.

I recently installed a Corbin 2 up seat. Is the seat rail under the Corbin the same as the Kawasaki factory seat rail? I wish to add some saddlebag brackets to the Corbin seat, but not sure if matches up with the two up factory seat.  Please let me know if it does match up.  If it does, I would be interested in some brackets that attach to that seat rail.
