I think troll has the best answer, when the wheels come out of the factory they are coated in a clear metal lacquer, this stuff gets dirty and turns green and makes the spokes look dirty..after cleaning the spokes as Troll suggested and drying them you can coat them in Rustin's fast drying Clear Metal Lacquer..a little goes a long way..

The rims on mine are in pretty good condition, but some of the spokes have some issues.  After looking harder at them,   I'm guessing there isn't much cleaning that's going to make them look like new again.  Maybe new spokes next time I need tires.

I've used Acid Mag N' Wire Wheel Cleaner 64 oz. by Best Supreme.  It is like many of the acid based cleaners like Castrol, Eagle, or Mequires which are designed for chrome wheels only. You have to be very careful not to get it on any aluminum or any plastic chrome trim as it will etch it.  Follow the instructions on the bottle and it works mike a charm to remove dirt, brake dust and even light rust.

If you're cleaning up the chrome, I had to remove a coating from mine, which was probably from sitting in the barn...kind of a gray/green..I finally resorted to WD-40 and 0000 steel wool

 the best I have used and the easy ones are scrub daddy sponges and Mr. Clean Magic eraser.

Has anybody found any "Amazing" wheel cleaner??   I'm cleaning up the rims on the 1500 getting ready to mount tires.  Tried 6 kinds of dope I had in the cabinet.  Best I found of the bunch was Turtle Wax "Ultimate" (or something like that).  It was only mediocre.

I was hoping someone who had "tried them all" might have a suggestion for something head and shoulders above the rest....
