At certain idle speeds/conditions, it makes the whole windscreen shake

be like one of them shake things to lose weight from the 60's ......... just think of the weight you can lose in the parking lot......

That motor mount was supposed to be #4 - I remembered reading your earlier post on how much difference that made.  Definitely going to check that.  At certain idle speeds/conditions, it makes the whole windscreen shake.  Enough to make any Harley owner proud...

Check the motor mount through bolt torque, but yeah, they have a V2 "rumble" at lower speeds. Mine has a particular vibe right at 55, but that goes away by 60, and smooth as glass after that...The torque on the through bolts is 33 lb/ft. Too tight, and they will take the insulation out of the mount, too loose, and the engine will shake too much. The hard mounted pipes will put a lot into the frame...I had that problem until I made the soft mount for my peace pipe...

I haven't had time to tear down the 1500 to start mods and fixes, so I put the parts I had tore off the 1500 back on, put the new battery in, and did some riding.  There are tons of things I like about it, but several things I need to fix.

One is the terrible vibration I get, compared to the 800.  Bad numb-hands.  I noticed a few things that I'm going to fix:

1) roadhouse exhaust - hard mounted -- FIX: rubber mount
2) grips are quite a bit smaller than my 800's and although they're foam-covered, it's kind of thin- not great--  FIX:  I'm putting on either Iso bars or Avon's.
3)  handle bar position makes me lean forward too much, too much weight on hands -- FIX:  either new bars or risers - topic of another thread.

Is there anything else I should be looking at??   The vibration is pretty bad, especially at idle and low RPMS.  For a while, I thought I had gotten a harley  ...   Vibration is bad when your in a gear where the RPMs are low for the speed your at.   Better at highway speed/RPM.   Is some of this just inherent to the 1500 vs. the 800 (I don't have much vibration in the 800)??  Or is there something else I should be checking out?
