Full Custom Exhaust?

Oh, and yeah I know one of my damn turn signals broke off... I need to make a sturdier bracket for those babies; the constant bouncing of the fender puts a lot of strain on them. *sigh* There's always one more thing... which is probably good since if I didn't have random bits to fix I'd end up breaking something by fiddling with it :x

There are a couple of variations using the V&H Longshots, putting one down each side instead of both on the right side. I did mine that way, then made my own exhaust tips to extend them out from under the saddlebags. The mod requires buying a Nomad rear crossover pipe, then modding the crossover to make them mount exactly the same in regards to spacing, and requires making the left mount.

Well... main reason I want to do it myself is price! Even with buying bends instead of bending the piping myself I'm looking at around $50-$60 worth of SS piping. Well, that and my current ammo can 'saddle bags' get in the way of any stock exhaust mount setup so I can't use stock mounting points anyway

Hopefully I'll be ordering my piping next week after measuring a few more times and sketching plans and whatnot...

I know several people have done it. Honestly, since you can use exhausts made for the Classic with a simple peg change - that is the route I'd go. Anyway here is ONE example of a custom mod.

IronRaven not sure why this would not work, if you have the access to a bending machine you can build your own, look at Paul Jr. and Paul Sr. they build thier own exhaust systems in a few minutes on TV, send them out for chroming and done. Bet you that GreenBarn with his shop, if he (and bet he has a bending machine) wanted to could hammer out a custom set of pipes in a matter of a few hours for you.

I have a complete stock set of headers that I have been hoarding, just in case...I have the stock heat shields, too. As a matter of fact, I have the complete system, minus the goat bladder. I sold that to a guy in California. Make me a reasonable offer. The shipping isn't going to be too bad. I paid $35 to have the complete system shipped, including the goat bladder....

So... I tore my exhaust system apart because it needed to be extended beyond my saddlebags and noted that ... well there ain't a kind way to say this... it's a pile of shit and it needs to go. The downpipes were apparently cut off with a hacksaw and pieced back together without even using exhaust clamps and... well whatever, I don't need to get into it all the way, but the fact is that shit needs to GO!

So... has anyone made their own custom setup from the ground up? Because I'm gonna and I'd appreciate any advice

If I can re-use the headers I will, I don't want to mess around with getting that bit perfect, but after that I guess I'm just gonna get some pipe, a few bends, haul the 'ol wirefeed otta the barn and see what the hell happens. Wish me luck boys 'n girls things are gonna get dirty!
