Two 1500 riders and you missed the most important clue, I have solved the issue.

Popedaddy not sure about the batwing fairing, but windscreen,  I have this one and it is really nice, easy to mount and looks really nice.

gets ridden very seldom

it is lonely and wants some attention, like a African grey when they start to pluck their feathers from being neglected or bored.......

this bike needs to be ridden more.

GPS is not to get you THERE but rather to get you home from THERE

I wouldn't think salt would hurt the rubber mounts,.....

I was thinking that salt in the air could suck the moisture out of the rubber, that's why I mentioned it.

Popedaddy:  You got any pictures of this deterioration?  That is kinda weird.  I wouldn't think salt would hurt the rubber mounts, but I know UV (sunlight) will, and most likely so will things like gasoline, gas fumes, exhaust fumes, etc.

Stuff that makes you go..."Hmmmmm".....

No Worries

I live in Pensacola Fl and I am near the water. The Bike does not sit outside. I guess it could be a combination of things, not sure.

That's strange, because the ones on my 2001 are the original ones, and they're just like the day the bike was built.

Do you live someplace where there's a ton of sun, or maybe sea salt in the air?  How about extreme cold or maybe stored outside?  Maybe the problem is environmental?

I haven't done anything to them. No armour all or chemicals. I wash it with car soap and hand dry it. They have just gotten hard and brittle. Is there a replacement light that I can use that looks original?

What are you doing to the rubber mounts? Mine are original and just fine...I put on 10,000+ a year...no issues. Are the mounts correct for the bike???

Recovering H-D owner...W-650 Cafe' No excuses...Ride it or sell it to someone who will!

The rubber grommets on my turn signals keep breaking down. The last one lasted less that two years. My bike stays in the shop and gets ridden very seldom. Any suggestions to why and what lights I should purchase.  I also want to buy a windshield. Where do you suggest i buy one? I like the bat wing.
