Has anyone tried one of these and do you think it would work?

I did the same thing, but supposedly they have it in stock!?....an email or phone call  could solve the issue. Too much $$$$ for my taste, tho...............As a Marine I'll Improvise, overcome and adapt.........and I'll be damned if I'll pay!

Did a google search for the part listed. It's the now discontinued F&S rack that attaches to the saddle bag struts...

If it's mounted to the fender, then it doesn't solve the problem...does it?

if you look close it looks like it is mounted to the fender.

Here's another option: part#K53020-323, Apex Powersports, $169.95

Why does that look like it will hit the fender????

Since the fender is plastic and moves with the rear suspension I think that rack is more for show.  I've seen another type of rack that's made to bolt to the saddle bag struts and that would be infinitely more usable.

Thanks for the replies guys, very informative. Can't wait util I actually pick up my Drifter next week so I can actually measure stuff and figure out what I can and can not fabricate to fit.

I've got one mounted on a Softail Fender, street sweeper type/fiberglass. It is for show only......really.........I've put a small sack with a qrt of oil or something like that...........but I wouldn't trust it for heavier camping type gear. I read his post there too.........but............like Troll said..........? I'm going to try a 1967 FLH luggage rack. Found one on Ebay for 50.00  Looks like it might work. Apex Sports has a rack with a Kawasaki Number that matches the factory for a 1500, but it's $173.00.

I think that's a Ted's Design rack, isn't it?  I've got one I bought used last year, and have never mounted it - future 800 project.  I would think the fender-mount would support 10 lb easily wouldn't it? That's not very much, really, only 2 sacks of sugar.  I definitely wouldn't put a lot on there though.  The temptation would be there, though, to strap a 40# bag on there, though, so keep that in mind.

I think there are several of them around mounted on Drifters, though - maybe some of their owners will chime in....

No Worries

Read the description carefully. I'm wondering if 10# might be stretching the capacity a bit....
